How this website was developed
Not issuing top-down guidance, but sharing practice.
During the summer and autumn of 2026, Local Trust convened three regional networks of Pride in Place Chairs — Greater Manchester, the West Midlands, and coastal communities. Kinship Works supported these sessions, sharing common themes and then using these insights to develop this website.
When the sessions started, we did not know how much local areas would have in common. As it turned out, people were facing many of the same challenges, and saw a lot of benefit in sharing. The conversations also revealed a huge amount of useful material that had already been developed, but was not widely known — plans and guides written by local Pride in Place areas, or work developed by Strategic Authorities, or by specialist organisations.
This website curates the material that felt most relevant to the challenges we were hearing. It has been developed in a spirit of dialogue — we would welcome feedback.
In a spirit of collaboration, we are publishing these resources under a Creative Commons licence. If the site proves useful, we will explore with others how it could best be maintained and expanded. This could mean collaborating with organisations delivering the Network for Neighbourhoods, or managing the site as a peer resource run by the community of local PiP areas themselves.
